Fort Atkinson School District School Board Holds Organizational Meeting

An Organizational Meeting of the Board of Education of the School District of Fort Atkinson was held Monday, April 28, 2025 at the Luther Administration Center, 201 Park Street, Fort Atkinson.


Officers Elected

At this special meeting, the five-member board elected the following officers: Kory Knickrehm, President; Amy Reynolds, Vice-President; Robynn Selle, Treasurer; and Matt Loup, Clerk.


Committee Appointments Completed

The Board also formalized assignments of two members each, to its five standing committees as follows: To the Certified Staff Committee (include Negotiations): Kory Knickrehm and Robynn Selle; to the Finance & Operations Committee: Amy Reynolds and Kurt Lewis; to the Personnel Committee (includes Benefits Advisory): Kory Knickrehm and Robynn Selle; to the Policy Committee: Matt Loup and Kurt Lewis; and to the Sponsorship Committee: Amy Reynolds and Matt Loup.


Wisconsin Association of School Boards (Region 12) Delegate Designated

The Board approved from among its five members Amy Reynolds to represent the school district as Delegate to the Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) Region 12, and Matt Loup as Alternate Delegate.


According to the Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) website, “The Wisconsin Association of School Boards is dedicated to serving as an advocate for education and students. The nonprofit, member-driven organization seeks to advance the interests of public education through supporting the tradition of local school board control.” Their website further states that, “WASB membership includes Wisconsin public school boards and Cooperative Educational Service Agencies. The association is governed by a 15-member board of directors.”


Cooperative Educational Service Agency (CESA 2 - East) Representative Designated

The Board also approved from among its five members Kurt Lewis as Representative to the Cooperative Educational Service Agency – CESA 2 (East). According to the Cooperative Educational Service Agency website, there are 12 CESAs in the state of Wisconsin, with CESA 2 serving 74 Southern Wisconsin school districts. The purpose of each CESA is to serve the unique needs of schools and children in a particular region of the state.


“CESAs make it possible for schools, regardless of size, to work together to share staff and equipment, save money, and extend educational opportunities to all corners of the state and to all children ... CESAs provide these services without mandates, without levying taxes, and with no state aid,” according to the Agency. CESA 2 is scheduled to hold its annual convention June 17, 2025.


Additional Actions at the Organizational Meeting

The Board also authorized a number of depositories and types of accounts for its revenues; authorized the Director of Business Services (Nathan Knitt is Director of Business Services for the school district) to invest district funds.


The Board will continue to schedule regular its meetings starting at 5:30pm on the third Thursday of each month.


Board members had individually taken their oaths of office prior to the Organizational Meeting.
