Current occupation: Senior Copywriter, Grainger.

Years of residence in Fort Atkinson: 56.

Education: University of Wisconsin, B.A. degree, Journalism; Fort Atkinson High School Graduate.

Current civic organizations: Current Fort Atkinson City Council President.

Political experience. “Current City Council President; elected in 2024 following appointment to a vacancy in 2023; citizen appointee to the Plan Commission, 2019-2023; City Council member, 2009-2019, including two years as president; former legislative aide, Wisconsin State Assembly.”

Reasons for seeking City Council position: “It’s been my honor to represent a diverse group of interests as a member of our City Council. The city is experiencing positive momentum in creating opportunities for new housing, business growth and redevelopment. There’s more work to be done. I hope to continue collaborating with my fellow elected officials and city staff for the betterment of the entire community.”

Most pressing issues facing the office/position of City Councilperson: “Among the issues the city faces is ensuring we have the revenues to meet our expenditures, always remaining mindful of the impact on our tax base. Other challenges the city will continue to work on include creating new housing opportunities, fostering economic development, improving the condition of our roads and focusing on employee retention.”

Conditions or projects to improve, initiate, or complete: “The Ridge View Estates residential development along Banker Road is beginning to take shape. Continued support for it will help grow our tax base and provide much-needed housing of all types in the coming years. We have an affordable housing initiative to launch this year. The city will develop a long-term plan in 2025 to assist with Main Street and Janesville Avenue corridor revitalization efforts. I’m also interested in the outcome of the Boost Fort Atkinson business competition, a partnership of the city, Chamber of Commerce and UW-Whitewater to encourage new small business growth.”

Unique perspectives brought to the office of City Councilperson: “I’m a lifelong Fort Atkinson resident and six-time elected official representing our community’s citizens and businesses. I’ve served three years as City Council president. During my terms of office, I’ve gained more than a decade of experience in municipal budgeting, capital planning, policymaking, goal setting and collective bargaining.”

Additional comments or insights for the public to know: “I’m excited as ever to represent our community on the City Council. I look forward to the opportunity to keep working alongside a dedicated and talented municipal workforce to keep moving our city forward.”
