Age: 56.
Current occupation: Plant manager.
Years of residence in Fort Atkinson: 24.
Education: Leadership and industry-related certification programs.
Current civic organizations: Rock River Patriots.
Prior political experience: None.
Reasons for seeking City Council position: “For a number of years I have been involved in bringing information to the general public through a group we formed in 2009. We did Q&A with political candidates and provided information on policy initiatives on a global and national level that affects our daily lives. In the last two years I took an interest in local politics and began attending the Fort City Council meetings regularly. After thoughtful consideration I felt compelled to run for council.
Most pressing issues facing the office/position of City Councilperson: “I am not aware of anything existential at the moment. I know our roads, intersections, and other areas of infrastructure have been a concern to people I talk to. I know the city has limited funds and limited resources but I would like to be a part of the decision making process for those items.”
“I also believe any ordinances we pass should be considered through the lens of maximizing freedom for residence and minimizing impacts on our daily lives. While certain laws and rules are necessary for safety and good order it is important for us to consider the costs to citizens as a major factor before voting new ordinance rules into effect.”
Conditions or projects to improve, initiate, or complete: I would like to focus on making Fort an attractive place to expand our manufacturing base and business in general. This could help offset the tax burden to residents of Fort Atkinson. I also would like to provide support for expanding housing within the city as our county currently has a severe shortage in the housing sector.”
“I would also like to assist and provide support to address the road maintenance and repair issues in Fort.”
Unique perspectives brought to the office of City Councilperson: “I have managed manufacturing operations for over 25 years. That experience has provided me the opportunity to work on major capital projects, business development, and many other aspects of operational resource and employee development. I believe these experiences would assist in offering ideas and oversight to projects, issues, and opportunities facing the city.”
Additional comments or insights for the public to know: “I am married with three adult children now and am at a place in life where I have some time and experience to get involved in our local community. My goal would be to assist in making Fort Atkinson one of the best places in Wisconsin and even the country to live and raise a family.”
